John 10:14 - I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. We will be plenty deceived if we think by our mere profession of faith, we belong to the chief Shepherd. We seem to fail to realize one of the hallmarks of a sheep is that humble trust and obedience to the Shepherd that leads them through the wilderness of this fallen world. Goats on the other hand never subscribe to being led. And all can testify to this fact, unless there are alien goats. This comparison is made as seen in scripture (Matthew 25:32,33) so that everyone who professes to know the Lord can search his/her heart to see where they truly stand.
